Description

Free Agent marks a turning point in B-Cide’s career. Released in 2008, this album arrived immediately after his time signed to DJ King Assassin’s record label, which was distributed by Universal Records. When the label folded, B-Cide found himself independent once again—making him, quite literally, a free agent.

This project is considered B-Cide’s third major album, following Upstate Madness: Welcome to Utica and The Self-Proclaimed King. The title also carries deeper meaning: “315” represents both the third major release and the 15 tracks that make up the album.

Created during an era of heavy touring, face-to-face fan interaction, and nationwide shows alongside artists like Project Born, Free Agent captures the energy of the road, the grind of independence, and the clarity that comes from betting on yourself.

Recorded and mixed in Utica, NY, this album reflects a raw, hands-on era of underground hip-hop—before algorithms, when music was moved hand-to-hand and city-to-city.
